Lenovo Yoga 13 fixes #1 – The touch screen goes to sleep causing it to miss the first swipe

The touch screen often misses the first attempt to swipe across it.  This is because it is installed as a USB device with default settings that allow the device to sleep to save power.  After just 4 seconds of inactivity, the touch interface goes to sleep, and subsequently the next swipe may happen too fast for it to wake up and register the action properly. Fixing that setting allows the screen to be properly responsive, as follows:

  1. Go to the desktop
  2. Hit the Win key + x (i.e. Hold down the ‘Windows Key’ and hit the ‘x’ key) to bring up the power menu
  3. Choose “Device Manager”
  4. Expand the “Human Interface Devices” item

At the bottom of the “Human Interface Devices” list are two devices labeled “USB Input Device”.
We need to make a change to one of these, so to find the right one:

  1. Right click on one and open the “Properties”
  2. Click the “Details” tab
  3. In the “Property” drop down, select “Hardware Ids”, usually the second item in the list

The one we are looking for will say USB\VID_04F3&PID_000A on the second line of text. If you see a different USB\VID text, try the next USB Input device until you find the one matching this.

  1. Now click the “Power Management” tab
  2. Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

Enjoy the loving goodness of a responsive screen.

I am with the touchscreen problem but in my case I just have one usb in the HID and it isn’t the one I need. How can I do?

  2. I would go ahead and try unchecking the box for power saving on that one anyway, and see if it works. But please, create a System Restore point first, just in case it does something unexpected. I am not aware of any other way to fix this one.
